Microsoft access
Microsoft Access is a computer-based filing system that allows the collection of information organised for quick and desired analysis. It is useful for students to organise statistics and census data for analysis and comparison. Students can also use Access to create database of a list of resources including articles, journals and books.
Student Activity and Engagement:
Students will undertake a class activity on Mendelian genetics and human inheritance using Microsoft Access. Students will collect and analyse information about their classmate's physical characteristics and traits such as hair colour, tongue rolling etc, by creating a database together as a class using Access and a PC projector. Through this use of database, students will be able to easily organise the large amount of data collected and draw observations on patterns and diveristy. Every individual is a test subject in this activity and will contribute to creating the database which helps to motivate students by enhancing relevance and engagement.
